Brisbane 2032 Olympic Vision 'Believe, Belong, Become' Sparks Originality Debate

The official vision for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games has been unveiled as 'Believe, Belong, Become', following a consultation process that involved over six thousand Australians. The announcement was made at a launch event in Brisbane on Wednesday, with more than a dozen councils across Queensland tuning in.

Brisbane 2032 President Andrew Liveris stated that the vision, approved by the International Olympic Committee, will serve as a guiding principle for the Games. He noted that 48 per cent of Queenslanders contributed to defining the values, calling it the largest consultation process undertaken by the organizing committee to date.

Australian Olympic Committee President Ian Chesterman expressed confidence that the vision would resonate with athletes, emphasizing the importance of belief in taking on global competition. Paralympian Madison de Rozario welcomed the focus on 'Belong', describing the Games as a potential catalyst for genuine inclusivity in para-sport.

Paralympics Australia President Grant Mizens said the consultation process ensured that people's experiences and ambitions were heard, resulting in a vision that feels honest and globally relevant. Brisbane 2032 CEO Cindy Hook outlined six commitments in sustainability, inclusion, and economics, hoping that everyone can see themselves in the vision.
