Former Newcastle Knights star Alex McKinnon has announced his engagement to social worker Lily Malone. The 33-year-old proposed to his 23-year-old partner during a trip to Paris, with the couple sharing the news on Instagram on Sunday.
Malone revealed that the proposal took place on October 28. The couple posted a gallery of photos showing the ring in front of French landmarks, including the Louvre. The ring features a large diamond on a gold band.
The post was flooded with congratulatory messages from family and former teammates, including Adam Elliott and Trent Merrin. Kris Buderus, wife of Newcastle great Danny Buderus, also offered her congratulations.
McKinnon and Malone first confirmed their relationship in March 2024. In early October, Malone hinted at an engagement in a TikTok video with the caption, 'Surely I’m not the only one who thinks my hand would look a lot better with a ring on it.'
McKinnon's engagement comes after his split from ex-wife Teigan Power in January 2022. The couple had three children together and continue to co-parent. Power has since welcomed a son with her new partner, Jake Nelson.
