Perth Bears NRL Team to Benefit from $20M Training Facility

The Perth Bears, set to enter the NRL in 2027, will receive a $20 million high-performance training centre in Malaga, funded by the Western Australian government. The facility will be shared with rugby union, supporting both codes in the region.

Australian Rugby League Commission chair Peter V'Landys expressed confidence in the Bears' competitiveness from their first season, citing the success of the Redcliffe Dolphins as a benchmark. He also proposed a unique player-sharing arrangement with the Western Force, though this idea faces skepticism due to the competitive nature of the two sports.

The Bears will leverage the existing North Sydney Bears infrastructure, including junior leagues and talent pathways, to build their roster. Former Bears player Billy Moore highlighted the advantage of reviving the franchise with a blend of old and new support, including strong backing in New South Wales.
