Anthony Gordon has opened up about his relentless pursuit of self-improvement, stating, "I have always been very intrigued to see who I can become." The Newcastle United winger, who enjoyed a breakout season in the Premier League, shared his thoughts on his career trajectory and personal development in a candid interview.
Breakout Season at Newcastle
The 23-year-old joined Newcastle from Everton in January 2023 for a fee of £40 million. Since then, he has become a key figure in Eddie Howe's side, contributing 11 goals and 10 assists in the 2025-26 campaign. Gordon's performances earned him a call-up to the England national team, where he made his debut in a friendly against Brazil in March 2026.
Gordon credited his progress to the supportive environment at Newcastle. "The club has been amazing for me. The staff, the players, the fans – everyone has helped me settle and improve," he said.
Personal Growth and Mindset
Gordon emphasized the importance of mental strength and curiosity in his development. "I’m always asking questions, always trying to learn. I want to see how far I can push myself," he explained. This mindset has been crucial in overcoming challenges, including adapting to a new club and dealing with the pressures of top-flight football.
He also spoke about the influence of his family and mentors. "My parents have always been there for me, and I’ve had great coaches who have believed in me. That gives you confidence."
Ambitions for the Future
Looking ahead, Gordon is determined to achieve more with Newcastle and England. "We have a young, talented squad at Newcastle, and I believe we can compete for trophies. Personally, I want to keep improving and become a better player every day," he said.
His ultimate goal is to be remembered as a player who gave everything. "I don’t want to look back and wonder what if. I want to know I did everything I could to reach my potential."
