Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the 14-year-old cricketer signed by Rajasthan Royals, has silenced sceptics with a stunning 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans in Jaipur. His innings, the second fastest in IPL history, included 11 sixes and 7 fours, earning him the nickname 'Baby Boss' from fans.
Suryavanshi reached his century with a six off legspinner Rashid Khan, after a slow start of nine runs off his first seven balls. He then exploded, scoring 92 off his next 28 deliveries, featuring powerful hitting against a high-class attack including Test bowlers Ishant Sharma and Rashid Khan.
The knock helped Royals chase down Gujarat's 4-209 with 25 balls to spare, ending a five-match losing streak. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who made 70 not out, praised Suryavanshi's temperament and practice habits. Gujarat captain Shubman Gill acknowledged it was 'Suryavanshi's day'.
Sachin Tendulkar lauded the teenager's fearless approach and bat speed. Despite Royals languishing in eighth place with six points, the innings has become a tournament highlight.
