England produced a dominant all-round performance to beat India by 75 runs in the second T20 international in Chennai, leveling the five-match series at 1-1.

Salt's century powers England to imposing total

Phil Salt smashed an unbeaten 109 off just 56 balls, including seven sixes and nine fours, to propel England to 198 for 4 after being asked to bat first. Salt shared a 113-run partnership for the second wicket with Ben Duckett, who made 45 off 31 balls.

India's bowlers struggled to contain Salt, who reached his second T20 century in the final over of the innings. Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 30, but the rest of the attack proved expensive.

India's chase falls apart

In reply, India were never in the hunt after losing early wickets. Jofra Archer struck twice in his first over to remove Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav, and from there the required rate climbed steadily.

Hardik Pandya top-scored with 40 off 29 balls, but the hosts were eventually bowled out for 123 in 17.5 overs. Adil Rashid was the chief destroyer with 3 for 15, while Archer finished with 2 for 22.

Series poised for thrilling finish

The victory sets up a fascinating series with three matches to play. The third T20 will be held in Kolkata on July 7. England captain Jos Buttler praised his team's performance: "That was a complete performance. Phil was exceptional, and the bowlers executed their plans perfectly."

India captain Rohit Sharma acknowledged England's superiority on the night. "We were outplayed in all departments. Salt played a brilliant knock, and we didn't respond well with the bat. We need to regroup quickly."
