Cameron Green Cleared For Ashes Bowling Duties

Cameron Green has proven his fitness for the upcoming Ashes series after bowling eight overs in the second innings of Western Australia's Sheffield Shield match against Queensland at the Waca Ground. The 26-year-old all-rounder, who suffered a side strain last month, also bowled eight overs in Queensland's first innings, surpassing the 15-to-20-over threshold set by chief selector George Bailey.

Green's batting performance further strengthened his case, scoring 94 off 172 deliveries against a strong Queensland attack. He was dismissed lbw by Michael Neser, after which Western Australian captain Sam Whiteman declared the innings at 7-322, trailing by 68 runs.

In Queensland's second innings, Matt Renshaw scored 51 before being dismissed, adding to his first-innings century. Western Australia's off-spinner Corey Rocchiccioli took four wickets to restrict Queensland to 8-187, leading by 255 runs with a day remaining.

Green's all-round display has cleared the path for his selection as Australia's all-rounder for the first Ashes Test at Optus Stadium starting 21 November. However, selectors face dilemmas, including Josh Hazlewood's hamstring tightness and Sean Abbott's moderate-grade hamstring strain, which will rule him out of the first Test.

England also experienced injury concerns, with Mark Wood undergoing precautionary scans for hamstring stiffness and Brydon Carse missing play due to illness.
