Alyssa Healy smashed 111 off 52 balls for the Sydney Sixers, but her masterclass was not enough to secure a finals berth as the Perth Scorchers clinched the final top-four spot on the last day of the WBBL regular season. Healy's innings, featuring 15 fours and six sixes, was the fourth-fastest century in WBBL history, coming off just 48 deliveries.
The Sixers needed a heavy win over the Melbourne Stars at North Sydney Oval to leapfrog the Scorchers on net run rate, but the Stars' total of 178-4 made that virtually impossible. Despite Healy's heroics, the Sixers won by five wickets with two balls to spare, but finished level on points with Perth and missed the finals due to an inferior net run rate.
Earlier, the Scorchers suffered a dramatic batting collapse against the Adelaide Strikers, losing 5-20 in four overs after a 118-run opening stand between Sophie Devine and Beth Mooney. Needing nine runs off the final over, they fell three runs short, but the Sixers' failure to secure a big win allowed Perth to scrape into the finals.
The finals series will see the Stars face the Scorchers, while two-time defending champions Brisbane Heat take on the Sydney Thunder. The Thunder secured third spot with a six-wicket win over the Hobart Hurricanes, who finished last.
