Gabriel Muresan, a former Romanian football player who earned nine caps for the national team, has died at the age of 44 after drowning in a lake near the town of Apold, where he had been serving as mayor since 2020. Muresan's most successful period came with CFR Cluj, where he won the Romanian league title in 2008, 2010, and 2012, along with three domestic cups during his six seasons at the club.
