Amateur golfer Ali Gibb, 51, achieved an extraordinary feat by scoring three holes in one during a 36-hole round at Croham Hurst Golf Club in Croydon, south of London. The remarkable performance occurred during a club championship day, with the aces coming in just five hours.
Ms Gibb recorded her first hole in one on the par-3 fifth hole, then repeated the feat on the same hole later in the round. She added a third ace on the 11th hole, with the second and third occurring within seven holes of each other. Her scorecard included a mix of numbers, featuring three ones alongside a nine, two eights, and various other scores.
Speaking to the BBC, Ms Gibb described the day as “weird” and “very, very strange.” Club professional Adam Aram expressed astonishment, noting that he had only achieved one hole in one in 42 years. As per club tradition, Ms Gibb was awarded three bottles of champagne for her rare accomplishment.
Ms Gibb, who plays off a handicap of six, had previously recorded three holes in one over her entire golfing career. The achievement generated significant buzz around the club, with Mr Aram joking that two would have been enough.
