The 2025 Illawarra and Southern Highlands athletics zone championships concluded at the Kerryn McCann Athletic Centre in Gwynneville, with 29 records broken over the two-day event. Athletes from under-7s to under-20s competed on November 29 and 30.
Wollongong City's Elsa Sandell set new marks in the 14 years girls 300m hurdles (57.75 seconds) and 90m hurdles (15.18 seconds). Bowral's Milo Shepherdson broke the boys 15 years 400m (54.46 seconds) and 800m (2:04.96) records.
Nine-year-old Kai Levitski from Northern Illawarra was a standout, breaking three records: 200m (29.70 seconds), 400m (1:06.10), and 800m (2:33.63). Clubmate Archie Galvin also claimed three records in the 13 years boys 800m (2:14.50), 1500m (4:31.77), and 3000m (10:11.15).
Bowral's Rory Shredden broke the 16 years boys 3000m record with a time of 9:56.53. In field events, under-16s' Imogene Anderson of Wollongong City won four golds and two silvers, including a discus record of 24.89 meters.
