The GWS Giants have delisted veteran forward Jake Stringer and young teammate Conor Stone ahead of the October 31 list deadline, with both players expected to be re-drafted by the club. The move allows the Giants to take the required number of picks to next month's national draft.
Stringer, 31, kicked 25 goals from 15 games in his first season at the Giants after being traded from Essendon at the end of 2024. He previously played 123 games and kicked 207 goals for the Bombers and was a premiership player at the Western Bulldogs. Stone, drafted with pick No.15 in 2020 as part of the Jeremy Cameron trade, has played just 20 games in five seasons, with a career-high seven in 2025.
Giants recruiting boss Adrian Caruso confirmed both players understood and supported the decision. “This is a common process we need to follow most seasons to prepare appropriately for the national draft,” he said. “Both Conor and Jake fully understand and support the move, and they’re aware of our ongoing commitment to them as players.”
In other list changes, Essendon delisted midfielder Will Setterfield, who is exploring options to be re-drafted or join another club. Setterfield, 27, managed 13 games in 2025 before a foot injury ended his season, averaging over 20 disposals and seven tackles. Richmond also delisted Thomson Dow after six years and 45 games, while Adelaide and Gold Coast let go of Tyler Welsh and Ben Jepson, respectively, with both expected to be re-drafted as rookies.
