West Coast Eagles captain Emma Swanson will miss Saturday's clash against Adelaide after the club accepted her one-match suspension for a dangerous tackle. Swanson was cited for the tackle on Gold Coast's Kalinda Howarth during the second quarter of West Coast's loss to the Suns.
The Match Review Officer assessed the incident as careless conduct with medium impact and high contact. The Eagles opted not to challenge the suspension, leaving them without their inspirational midfielder against the in-form Crows.
West Coast's remaining midfielders now face the daunting task of containing Adelaide's star trio of Ebony Marinoff, Anne Hatchard, and Erin Phillips. The Eagles are desperate for a turnaround after a slow start to the season.
Meanwhile, Sun Ellie Hampson accepted her one-match sanction for a dangerous tackle on Eagles forward Grace Kelly. GWS midfielder Tait Mackrill is challenging her rough conduct charge for a tackle on Fremantle's Dana East.
