Kane Cornes Slams Port Adelaide's 'List-Clogger' Strategy

AFL great Kane Cornes has launched a scathing attack on his former club Port Adelaide, branding them a 'list-clogger haven' after reports they are considering recruiting Jaidyn Stephenson.

Cornes, who played 300 games for the Power, was highly critical of the club's recent recruitment decisions, which include bringing in Corey Durdin from Carlton, Will Brodie from Fremantle, and Jacob Wehr from GWS during the trade period.

While Durdin and Wehr were regulars at their former clubs, Brodie has managed just five games in the past two seasons and did not play a senior game this year. Cornes expressed disbelief at the potential addition of Stephenson, saying, 'Not sure that’s going to happen, surely not.'

Stephenson, 26, retired from the AFL last year despite having a year left on his contract at North Melbourne. He has since expressed a desire to return to the league and has been initiating contact with clubs. Cornes hopes new coach Josh Carr will not seriously consider the former Rising Star winner, who played 122 games for Collingwood and North Melbourne.

Stephenson recently opened up about losing his passion for the game, telling the What Could’ve Been podcast that everything felt amplified and he eventually fell out of love with football.
