AFL star Bailey Smith has taken to social media to praise the coastal suburb of Cottesloe during his visit to Perth this week. The Geelong midfielder posted on Instagram that the streets were 'so pretty' and admitted to checking local house prices.
Smith, 24, is in Western Australia for a speaking event titled 'The Bailey Smith Experience' at Mineral Resources Park on Thursday. On Friday morning, he shared his admiration for the prestigious beachside suburb with his 420,000 Instagram followers.
In one Instagram story, he wrote: 'Why are the streets in Cottesloe so pretty?' In another, he added: 'Just sussed house prices in Cottesloe & there’s no wonder why she perty.' According to the Real Estate Institute of Western Australia, the median house price in Cottesloe is approximately $3.08 million.
Vincent Handley of Entertainment By Vin, which presented the event alongside Left Field Touring, said Smith enjoyed exploring Cottesloe before the show. 'Bailey loves meeting his fans young and old and has been excited at the prospect of seeing his WA-based fans this off season,' Handley told PerthNow.
Smith had a strong 2025 season in his first year with Geelong after moving from the Western Bulldogs, but faced off-field issues late in the year. This included an inappropriate caption on a Mad Monday photo of teammate Max Holmes, prompting AFL CEO Andrew Dillon to put Smith 'on notice' regarding his behaviour.
