Woman Injured in Gold Coast Car Theft, Three Charged

Three people, including two teenagers, have been charged after a 54-year-old woman was injured during an alleged car theft on the Gold Coast on Saturday. Police allege the group arrived at a Runaway Bay home in a stolen car about 4pm on Saturday.

One of the group, a 16-year-old boy, is alleged to have stolen the car from the home. The 54-year-old woman was trying to stop it from being taken when she was struck and injured. She was treated by paramedics before being taken to Gold Coast University Hospital, where she remained on Sunday afternoon receiving treatment.

A relative of the woman told the ABC she had been unloading groceries from her car at the time of the incident and had tried to close the gate to prevent the alleged theft. Paramedics also assessed a woman in her 20s at the scene who did not need further treatment.

The boy is due to face Southport Children's Court on Monday, while the man and woman will face Southport Magistrates Court. Police said investigations were ongoing and urged witnesses or anyone with relevant vision to contact police.
