Three Teens Arrested After Alleged Sexual Assault, Break-In in Cairns

Three teenagers have been arrested following an alleged break-and-enter and sexual assault in Cairns early Friday morning. Police say the boys broke into a home, threatened a couple with a knife, and took a woman into a separate room where she was sexually assaulted.

The alleged offenders were not known to the victims, according to police. Two of the teenagers were arrested about an hour after the incident, while the third was taken into custody shortly before 6pm on Friday.

Dramatic footage shows police chasing a 15-year-old across multiple lanes of traffic before tackling him on a median strip. The 15-year-old and a 16-year-old have each been charged with five counts of rape, armed robbery, deprivation of liberty, and break-and-enter.
