WA Liberal MP Simon Ehrenfeld Sued Over Unpaid $450,000 Mortgage Debt

Western Australian Liberal MP Simon Ehrenfeld is facing legal action over an unpaid mortgage debt of $450,000. The lawsuit, filed in the Supreme Court of Western Australia, alleges that Ehrenfeld defaulted on a loan secured against a property in Kallaroo.

The plaintiff, a private lender, claims that Ehrenfeld has failed to repay the debt despite multiple demands. Court documents indicate that the loan was provided in 2019 and was due for repayment in full by June 2023.

Ehrenfeld, who serves as vice-president of the Liberal Party's Moore division and president of the Hillarys branch, has not publicly commented on the lawsuit. The case is scheduled for a directions hearing later this month.

This legal action comes amid ongoing factional disputes within the WA Liberals, with federal MP Ian Goodenough previously raising concerns about Ehrenfeld's electoral enrolment. The AEC removed Ehrenfeld from the electoral roll after complaints about his residency, but he denies any wrongdoing.
