Townsville Woman Sentenced For Drug And Fraud Crimes

A 24-year-old Townsville woman has been sentenced for drug and fraud offences following a police operation that uncovered a major drug trafficking syndicate in the region.

Queensland Police arrested four people on 34 charges as part of Operation Xray Redshift, which targeted drug trafficking in Townsville. During a search of a property in Alligator Creek, officers found 108 kilograms of cannabis, nearly 8 kilograms of methylamphetamine, 1 kilogram of cocaine, and more than $400,000 in cash.

Illegal firearms were also seized, including three rifles, a semi-automatic weapon, a handgun, magazines, and ammunition, some of which were wrapped in plastic and hidden in bushland.

The woman was charged with drug offences and has been remanded in custody, awaiting her court appearance. Other arrested individuals include a 24-year-old Townsville man charged with 15 offences, a 28-year-old Cairns man, and a 59-year-old Townsville woman.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Andrew Bye stated that the operation has removed dangerous drugs from the streets and that police will continue to investigate and apprehend offenders to make Townsville safer.
