Police Seek 'Unpredictable' Man After Gosnells Shooting and Chase

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man they describe as 'unpredictable' following a shooting and police pursuit in Perth's southern suburbs. The incident began on Monday when officers attempted to stop a stolen silver Holden Cruze sedan on Dorothy Street in Gosnells around 9:30am.

The vehicle had been stolen from a house in Maddington last Friday, and was involved in a fuel drive-off at a petrol station on Albany Highway in Maddington earlier that morning. Offenders also allegedly attempted to use credit cards from the vehicle at two petrol stations in Armadale.

During the pursuit, at least one shot was fired from the car window. The vehicle was later found abandoned on Dwyer Crescent in Gosnells, with the gunman still at large.

Detectives are seeking 30-year-old Wendell Garlett, who is described as approximately 174 centimetres tall with black hair. Police warn he should not be approached and anyone who sees him should call 131 444 immediately.

A second man who was the subject of an earlier appeal was located in Armadale and is assisting police. A 17-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman are also assisting with the investigation. Tactical Response Group officers and Cannington detectives executed a search warrant at an Armadale address on Tuesday in connection with the incident.
