Newcastle Man Charged with Impersonating Police in Robbery

A 22-year-old man from Thornton has been charged with impersonating a police officer during a robbery in Jesmond, New South Wales. The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning on Heaton Street.

Police allege that the man, along with another individual, approached a 39-year-old man and his 20-year-old son who were sitting in a car. The suspects claimed to be police officers before assaulting the victims and stealing a wallet and mobile phone.

Following an investigation, police searched the 22-year-old's car on Wednesday and reportedly found property belonging to the father. They also allegedly seized a pistol, cash, and illegal drugs.
