A man has been arrested after the body of a woman aged in her 40s was discovered in a house in Werribee, in Melbourne's south-west, on Thursday morning. Police and paramedics arrived at the scene on Retford Close at approximately 9:05am, as parents were dropping their children at a school opposite the home.
The Homicide Squad is investigating the death, and detectives are questioning the man, who is believed to be known to the woman. Police have stated they are not looking for anyone else in relation to the death, but investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.
One neighbor, Elizabeth, reported that police and ambulance crews arrived shortly after parents had dropped their children off for the day. Many parents rushed back to the area, initially concerned that something had happened at the school. Elizabeth recounted that a mother from the school had walked past and saw a gentleman on the porch covered in blood.
