A man has been charged following a fatal stabbing at Lake Macquarie in the New South Wales Hunter region. Police allege the incident occurred during a fight at a unit in Windale last night.
The victim, a 29-year-old man, sustained stab wounds to the chest and torso. He received treatment from paramedics at the scene before being transported to Newcastle's John Hunter Hospital, where he later died.
The accused appeared in court today where his bail was refused. He is scheduled to face court again tomorrow. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing is ongoing.
