Tennant Creek Man Charged After Alleged Edged Weapon Assault on Partner

A 35-year-old man has been charged following an alleged domestic violence incident in Tennant Creek that left his female partner with serious injuries. Northern Territory Police responded to a residential property on Haddock Street around 12:30am on Sunday after reports of an assault.

Police allege the man attacked his 30-year-old partner with an 'edged weapon,' causing serious injuries to her abdomen. The victim was taken to Tennant Creek Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The suspect was arrested nearby following a foot chase. He has been charged with unlawfully causing serious harm, aggravated assault, and breach of a domestic violence order. He is being held on remand and is expected to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court on Tuesday.
