A 19-year-old man from Corio has been charged following a violent home invasion in Geelong's Hamlyn Heights. The incident occurred on August 22, when a 67-year-old man and his 93-year-old father were confronted by an intruder armed with a knife.
Police allege the attacker used a garden hose to flood the back of the house before entering through the front door. The younger victim was allegedly bashed and robbed during the 15-minute ordeal, suffering extensive bruising and swelling.
The victim's wallet, containing cash and cards, was reportedly cut from his trouser pocket. His elderly father managed to flee to a neighbor's house to call for help.
Detectives from the Geelong Crime Investigation Unit charged the suspect on Friday with aggravated burglary and armed robbery. He appeared before the Geelong Magistrates Court later that day.
