Four Charged in Townsville Drug Trafficking Bust, Police Seize Over 100kg of Cannabis

Queensland Police have arrested four individuals on 34 charges following a major drug trafficking investigation in Townsville. The operation, code-named Xray Redshift, targeted a syndicate operating in the rural suburb of Alligator Creek.

During searches of a property and vehicle, detectives uncovered more than 100 kilograms of cannabis, nearly 8 kilograms of methylamphetamine, 1 kilogram of cocaine, and over $400,000 in cash. Illegal firearms, including three rifles, a semi-automatic weapon, a handgun, magazines, and ammunition, were also seized, some wrapped in plastic among bushland.

Among those charged is a 24-year-old Townsville man facing 15 offences, including supplying dangerous drugs, trafficking, possessing property from trafficking, unlawful supply of weapons, possessing counterfeit money, and unlawful possession of weapons. A 28-year-old Cairns man, a 24-year-old Townsville woman, and a 59-year-old Townsville woman were also arrested on drug-related charges.

All four remain in police custody and are awaiting appearances in the Townsville Magistrates Court. Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Andrew Bye of the Major and Organised Crime Squad stated that the operation has removed dangerous drugs from the streets, emphasizing ongoing efforts to apprehend offenders and enhance community safety in Townsville.
