Child Sex Offender Pleads Guilty to Indecent Assault in Park Toilet Attack

A 32-year-old man has pleaded guilty to an aggravated indecent assault charge after luring a 10-year-old girl into a public toilet at a park in Adelaide's north and sexually assaulting her.

Hamzeh Bahrami appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday, where prosecutors dropped two counts of sexual intercourse without consent in exchange for the guilty plea. Those charges carried a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

In May, Bahrami had already pleaded guilty to three other aggravated indecent assault counts and one count of false imprisonment related to the same incident on April 3. Police said the girl was playing at a Blair Athol reserve around 6:00pm when Bahrami approached her, lured her into a toilet block, and assaulted her multiple times.

Bahrami was arrested two weeks later following a police campaign that included doorknocking in the area. His identity was initially suppressed but can now be reported. Police had earlier released footage of a man pushing a pram and an identikit image of the suspect.

A 29-year-old man was initially arrested but all charges were dropped after forensic evidence cleared him. Senior Sergeant Graham Tonkins praised the victim's bravery, stating she 'constantly amazed' detectives. Bahrami remains in custody and will face sentencing in the District Court.
