A Nelson Bay woman is celebrating a life-changing $27.5 million lottery win, saying she had a gut feeling something good was about to happen. The Port Stephens resident won the Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize on Monday, which had climbed to $27.52 million after 99 consecutive draws without a jackpot winner.
When informed of her win, the woman said she was shaking and emotional. 'I'm just at work and you've got me shaking like crazy,' she said. 'I can't hold back the tears. My eyes are going all blurry on me.' She described herself as over the moon and elated.
The winner plans to visit her husband at work to share the news and told officials she might not return to her job. 'I think I need to go and tell my boss I'm not coming back to work,' she said.
With her multimillion-dollar prize, the woman said helping friends and family is her top priority. 'There's so many people I want to help and there's so much I could do,' she said. 'Twenty seven million dollars is a lot of money. I don't need that much money all to myself.' She added that the win will allow her to retire, calling it amazing.
