Body Found in Darwin Creek Identified as 54-Year-Old Man

Northern Territory Police have identified the body discovered in a creek bed near Royal Darwin Hospital as a 54-year-old Darwin man. The man's next of kin have been notified.

The body was found by four children playing in the area around 6:30 PM Thursday in Lyons, between the hospital and Garamanak Park on Damabila Drive. Initial investigations suggest the body had been in the creek for two days before discovery.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Sonia Kennon stated the death is not being treated as suspicious at this time. Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen a person matching the deceased's description in the Garamanak Park area to contact Crimestoppers.

Local resident Marj Plant expressed shock, noting the area is usually busy with exercisers. Another resident, Kat Nestler, said the discovery made her anxious, describing the neighborhood as normally quiet and safe.
