Ross Transport Leads Illawarra Convoy With $305,000 Bid

The Illawarra Convoy, a major fundraising event, will see Ross Transport leading the procession down the mountain after a final bid of $305,000. The convoy, featuring bikes and trucks, takes place this weekend.

True Ross-Sawrey expressed excitement about leading the convoy for the first time since 2010. She described the live auction as intense, noting that the team had been fundraising all year in hopes of leading for Amarli, a child supported by the convoy.

Jade Broome, Amarli's mother, placed the final bid and was ecstatic. She said the support from the convoy and the Illawarra Convoy Foundation has been a lifeline for her family. Amarli's Army raised over $45,000 for the bid and was the top fundraising team all year.

The Ross Transport bid was boosted by $78,000 from Grechys Boxing and Fitness. The funds raised support families affected by potentially life-threatening medical conditions, providing food and fuel vouchers, medical equipment, and more.

The convoy has raised over $27 million since it began 21 years ago. The event will conclude with a free family fun day at Shellharbour Airport, headlined by Australian rock band The Screaming Jets.
