Mosman Park Tragedy: Street Reopens After Family of Four Found Dead

A street in the Perth suburb of Mosman Park has reopened after a family of four, including two teenage boys, were found dead in their home in a suspected murder-suicide. Police confirmed the bodies of a 50-year-old man, a 49-year-old woman, and their sons aged 14 and 16 were discovered on Friday morning.

Detective Acting Inspector Jessica Securo said a person known to the family arrived at the Mott Close home for a pre-arranged appointment and alerted police after receiving no response. Officers entered the property and found the four family members and three pets deceased. No weapon was used, and police stated there was no violent incident involved.

Police are treating the deaths as a murder-suicide, though no family violence matters had been previously reported. The children experienced significant health challenges, according to investigators. A note was left at the scene, which police are examining as part of their inquiry.

The bodies were not found together, and police are working to establish a timeline. It is unclear whether the tragedy occurred overnight or on Friday morning. Officers who responded to the scene are receiving support, with Securo describing the incident as a 'devastating tragedy' and noting that such events are rare for the area.

Mott Close, a short cul-de-sac in one of Perth's wealthier suburbs, was cordoned off during the investigation but has since reopened. Neighbours reported hearing emergency services around 9am local time and expressed shock, saying the incident is out of character for the quiet neighbourhood.
