Ellenbrook Bushfire Breaks Containment Lines, Watch and Act Alert Issued

Residents in Ellenbrook whose homes were threatened in yesterday’s bushfire have been issued another watch and act warning as the blaze has broken containment lines. Emergency WA says residents in the area between Pineroo Terrace, Grassdale Parkway, Interlaken Loop and Tonkin Highway should monitor conditions. The warning was issued at 2.56pm on Friday afternoon.

There is a possible threat to lives and homes, as the fire is not contained or controlled. Firefighters are on scene and are reportedly being assisted by waterbombers. Residents are reminded to stay alert and monitor conditions which could rapidly change.

Bushfire Advice warnings have also been issued for two neighbouring areas. The first area is bounded by The Broadway, Elmridge Parkway, Kerang Way, and Tonkin Highway, indicating to avoid the area. The second area, bounded by the western part of Tonkin Highway including Mardalla Road down to Tonkin Highway, has been warned to prepare now. There is currently no threat to lives and homes for these two areas.

Dramatic photos have emerged on social media of a large tree burning to embers next to Tonkin Highway. The pictures, captured by Facebook user Alyssa’s photography, show plumes of smoke towering into the sky as the tree is enveloped in flames.
