The new season of Farmer Wants A Wife has kicked off with a bang, as the premiere episode delivered unexpected drama when one contestant needed medical attention after being eliminated.
Medical Emergency Strikes
Nerves and anticipation ran high as farmers Alex, Dylan, Zac, Jarrad, and Jason wrapped up a whirlwind speed-dating session with seven hopeful ladies. However, the romance quickly took a dramatic turn. Just as 37-year-old Queensland dairy farmer Jason prepared to announce which women he would invite back to his farm, a sudden medical emergency brought the day to a shocking halt.
As the two unlucky ladies not chosen, Bene and Britt, stood holding hands, host Natalie Gruzlewski bid them farewell. “Thank you so much ladies, I wish you all the very … oh … oh … are you ok?” Gruzlewski asked a wobbly Bene, who appeared a little off colour. “No,” came the reply from the contestant before she fell to the floor.
Gruzlewski is heard calling for a medic on set as Jason also rushed to her aid, confirming poor Bene had fainted. Just hours before collapsing, Bene, a 31-year-old customer service worker from Queensland, lit up the room as she met Jason, with plenty viewers also rooting for her. “She’s such a vibe! She should have been picked, we love her,” one fan wrote on Instagram. “I loved her energy! She was my fav,” another added.
Bene's Reaction
As a devoted mum to a five-year-old daughter, Bene was drawn to Jason’s commitment to family and sense of humour. Sadly, love just wasn’t meant to be this time. “So sorry everyone. Well, good news, the most embarrassing night of my life happened on the tele,” she joked after she recovered from the incident. “It got a bit hot there,” she added. “Unfortunately I do think I got a bit overwhelmed. The combination of the nerves, the heat, the whole massive day and experience got the better of me and I did have a bit of a dizzy spell.”
Jason's Hurdle
Jason is already facing his first hurdle with one of his five chosen ladies, who will now settle in to farm life to win his heart. During the speed dating session, the doting dad was visibly smitten by contestant Poppy. The only problem? She doesn’t want kids and Jason does. “Obviously you want to find someone who’s happy to be with someone with kids,” he told news.com.au ahead of the series premiere. “[Being a dad] does make it hard to meet people like with custody schedules and that sort of thing. Yeah, it does limit your time a bit.”
With Bene and Britt sent home on day one, potential love now rests in the hearts of Beth, Jessica, Jessie, Logan, and Poppy.
