The City of Fremantle council has authorised its CEO to approve a mystery outdoor music event at Fremantle Park, details of which remain under wraps. The decision was made at the council's February 11 meeting, with promotion slated to start this month and tickets going on sale in May.
The event, previously held in Fremantle, is described as a touring outdoor music concert targeting attendees aged 25 to 55. A council report notes it has become a well-recognised outdoor music brand, attracting significant patronage and repeat audiences. It features major Australian and international artists in relaxed, daytime-to-evening concerts with food and beverage offerings.
Projected attendance exceeds Fremantle Park's capacity, and the city will work with the organiser to determine a maximum patron number. An officer told the council the organiser is considering 15,000 to 20,000 attendees, but the city aims to reduce that to minimise impact.
Previous events at the park include Falls Festival, Blues and Roots, and last month's Nick Cave Wild God Tour. Since September 2021, there have been 14 noise complaints about events at the park. The city is developing a new outdoor events policy.
