Brisbane High School Staffer Charged with Grooming Student

A 28-year-old woman who worked at Indooroopilly State High School in Brisbane has been charged with child grooming offences. Police allege the Paradise Point resident met a boy through the school and had contact with him outside of school on multiple occasions from July 2022.

The complaint was made in February, leading to charges including two counts of grooming a child under 16 and one count of indecent treatment of a child under 16. The Department of Education confirmed the allegations are serious and upsetting for all involved.

In a statement, a department spokesperson said the safety and wellbeing of students is its top priority, adding that extensive wraparound support has been provided to the school community. Executive principal Michael Hornby wrote to the school community, noting legal restrictions prevented him from sharing details and urged against social media commentary.
