Promoter Furious as Headline Act Skips Newcastle Dance Party

The promoter of a Newcastle dance music festival has expressed his anger after the advertised headline act failed to perform. Sydney electronic DJ Nick Skitz was scheduled to headline The Big '90s Dance Party at The Station in Newcastle on Saturday night, but did not appear.

Approximately 2000 people attended the event. When Skitz failed to arrive, DJ Peewee Ferris was asked to play an extended set. The absence was not announced to the crowd during the night.

Punters have taken to social media to express their anger and demand refunds. Promoter Sam Rose of Boo Entertainment told the Newcastle Herald that Skitz had not contacted him about his absence and had not responded to calls or messages since.

Rose stated, 'I've been in the game 11 years and I've never had a headliner not show up.' He noted that Skitz had been reliable in previous bookings. Rose said he chose not to announce the no-show to avoid a potential riot.

Rose confirmed there would be no partial or full refunds, describing it as industry standard as long as the show continues. He said he has been contacting disgruntled attendees to explain the situation and will 'work something out' with some of them.
