Oliver Peterson has a significant task ahead after moving to ABC Perth's Drive program, as the latest radio ratings show a substantial drop in listeners for the prime-time show. New GFK radio ratings released for the August to November period indicate the program lost 2 percent of its audience Monday to Friday.
Peterson announced on Monday that he is leaving 6PR to take over the Drive program at the ABC. His appointment follows current ABC Drive host Gary Adshead's announcement in October that he would step down at the end of the year. Adshead is also a former 6PR presenter.
The ratings decline adds pressure on Peterson to reverse the trend and attract more listeners to the Drive slot. The ABC Perth Drive program has faced challenges in maintaining its audience share in a competitive radio market.
