Massage Therapist Jailed for 13 Years for Sexually Abusing 61 Women

Sumit Satish Rastogi, a 39-year-old unqualified massage therapist, has been sentenced to 13 years and 10 months in prison after pleading guilty to 97 offences, including aggravated indecent assault and indecent filming, involving 61 victims. The offences occurred between October 2021 and July 2022 at a massage parlour in Glenelg, Adelaide.

During the sentencing hearing, Judge Carmen Matteo detailed each offence, stating that Rastogi violated the trust of women who were entitled to safety, respect, and dignity. She noted that his offending became more serious over time as he developed confidence, eventually interfering with victims' underwear and taking invasive images.

Two victims spoke outside court, urging women to speak up if they feel something is wrong. One victim said, 'No-one spoke out sooner, everyone knew it felt wrong and we all left just thinking that was a bit strange.' Another victim encouraged women not to feel afraid or ashamed to report such incidents.

Judge Matteo also considered Rastogi's diagnosis of voyeuristic disorder, which his psychiatrist said explained his behaviour but did not absolve him of responsibility. Rastogi's sentence was backdated to his arrest, making him eligible for parole in 2035.
