Butler Building Wins Top Honor at 2025 HIA Hunter Awards

Butler Building has claimed the top prize at the 2025 HIA Hunter Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards, winning the HIA Hunter Home of the Year award for its project 'Taurean Dream'. The announcement was made on October 18 at NEX before a capacity audience of industry leaders from the Central Coast, Hunter and Mid Coast regions.

Industry judges described the winning home as 'nothing short of a masterpiece', praising its 'innovation, artistry and exceptional craftsmanship'. Taurean Dream dominated the night, securing seven individual awards for Butler Building. The home's success was shared with Mali White Design and Cutting Edge Joinery, which collected an additional five awards for their contributions.

Judges noted that the 'HIA Hunter Home of the Year balances innovation, artistry and exceptional craftsmanship at every turn. From its striking use of cutting-edge materials to its flawless detailing. The result is more than a home – it's a work of art. A showpiece of design innovation, material mastery and timeless appeal, setting the benchmark for contemporary living.'

HIA Hunter executive director Craig Jennion congratulated Butler Building and all winners, highlighting the awards' role in showcasing building and design excellence. 'HIA is committed to recognising the outstanding achievements of our members and this year I was once again impressed by the sheer scale, creativity, passion and excellence demonstrated by HIA members,' Mr Jennion said.

Cutting Edge Joinery also enjoyed significant success, winning the overall Kitchen of the Year award and Cabinetmaker/Kitchen Manufacturer of the Year. Other key awards went to James Shepherd (Apprentice of the Year) and Max Wylie (Emerging Builder). Overall winners in major categories will now progress to the HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards in 2026.
