Perth cocktail enthusiasts will get a rare taste of Bangkok's acclaimed Opium Bar without leaving the city. The award-winning bar is bringing its surrealist cocktail concept to Songbird Bar at The Ritz-Carlton Perth this Saturday as part of the Twilight Tails series.
From 6pm to 8pm, guests can sample Opium's inventive creations, including the Mali, a whisky-based cocktail inspired by mangroves; the Espresso Macchiato, a twist on the classic espresso martini; the Tipsy Oreo, blending gin, amaretto cream and Oreo; and More Hours With You, a floral, complex mix embodying the bar's surrealist style.
The takeover will be led by Bangkok native Arnon “KK” Hoontrakul, a multilingual creative with international experience across Europe and Asia. Marco Barsotti, beverage and bars manager at The Ritz-Carlton Perth, said Twilight Tails aims to transport guests into the worlds of exciting global bars, and Opium Bar's surrealist philosophy makes it a perfect addition.
Opium Bar, located above Bangkok's Yaowaraj Road in the heritage POTONG building, has become a fixture of Asia's bar scene. Its menu is entirely crafted in-house, from syrups to garnishes, reflecting its surrealist approach. Since opening, it has climbed to number 43 on Asia's 50 Best Bars list in 2025, won Bar of the Year at the B.A.D Awards, and earned recognition from Tatler, Travel + Leisure and the Top 500 Bars list.
