Naomi Klein and Astra Taylor: How to Resist End Times Fascism
Naomi Klein and Astra Taylor: Resisting End Times Fascism

Naomi Klein and Astra Taylor, two leading voices on climate justice and democracy, are joining forces for a Guardian Live event to discuss their powerful new book, End Times Fascism: And the Fight for the Living World. The event will take place on Monday, September 28, 2026, from 7:30 PM to 9 PM BST, both in person at Bristol St Georges and via livestream.

The Rise of a New Kind of Fascism

The far right is surging globally, but it is not the same as past iterations. Today, billionaire tech moguls, ethno-nationalists, and religious fundamentalists are converging around a shared belief in an impending cataclysm. They welcome a future of disaster, convinced they will be among the survivors. Klein and Taylor argue that this apocalyptic worldview is a form of supremacist survivalism, but they insist it is not invincible.

What the Book Reveals

In End Times Fascism, the authors dissect this man-made Armageddon complex. They show how the far right has co-opted survivalist rhetoric to justify inequality, environmental destruction, and authoritarianism. However, they also offer a hopeful counter-narrative: one of interdependence, belonging, and collective action. The book provides a roadmap for building a movement strong enough to resist these forces.
