Richard Bennett, the father of LMFAO singer Lauren Bennett, has spoken publicly about the circumstances surrounding her death, expressing deep disappointment in the medical professionals he alleges failed to provide adequate care. Bennett died on May 29 at the age of 36, and her former G.R.L. bandmates confirmed her passing earlier this week.
Father's Grief and Allegations
In a statement shared on Instagram, Richard Bennett described his daughter as "the love of my life and my pride and joy." He detailed the health battle she faced in the months leading up to her death. "Months before her death, Lauren experienced a severe reaction to a prescribed medication. As a family, we all rallied around her and did everything we could to support her," he wrote.
He continued, "We have no suspicions regarding the circumstances of her death, only deep disappointment that, for five months, medical professionals and NHS services failed to treat her appropriately during her time of greatest need." The family has asked for privacy as they grieve, emphasizing that Bennett's legacy lives on through her daughter, family, and music.
Musical Career and Legacy
Bennett began her professional music career at age 12, eventually becoming a member of the Paradiso Girls from 2007 to 2010. She gained international fame as a featured vocalist on LMFAO's 2011 hit "Party Rock Anthem." She later performed as part of the group G.R.L., which disbanded in 2021. The group also faced tragedy with the death of founding member Simone Battle in 2014.
In a social media post, G.R.L. expressed their grief: "It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Lauren. Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us. We will forever cherish the love, laughter, and countless memories she gave us."
Personal Life
Bennett leaves behind her six-year-old daughter, Harlow, whom she shared with dancer and actor Kenny Wormald, known for his role in the film "Footloose." The family has requested privacy during this difficult time.
