Chris Hemsworth and his wife, Elsa Pataky, have revealed they were denied boarding for an international flight over an embarrassing mix-up. Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar Arabia for a joint interview, the Thor star explained that he had made a huge error with their passports, resulting in the family being prevented from boarding.
The Passport Blunder
“I actually went to the airport once and I had my daughter’s passport instead of my son’s passport,” Hemsworth, 42, said. The Australian actor shares three children with Pataky, 49: daughter India Rose, 14, and twin boys Sasha and Tristan, 12.
In a desperate bid to fix the situation, Hemsworth then admitted to the magazine that he had attempted to pass off his son’s passport as his daughter’s. “‘This is her,’ he insisted to the security agent, who replied, ‘That’s a boy,’” he explained, adding: “They kind of look the same.”
Pataky then chimed in, telling him bluntly: “They don’t.” “So, yeah, that didn’t work,” Hemsworth concluded.
Family Life in Byron Bay
The Marvel star wed Spanish model and actress Pataky back in 2010, and they now live with their three children in a sprawling mansion in Byron Bay. The couple have largely kept their kids away from the spotlight of their Hollywood careers, but all three have now tried their hand at acting.
India Rose had a role in her father’s 2022 film, Thor: Love and Thunder, while the boys recently made their screen debut in their mother’s Spanish TV series, The Tribute.
Hemsworth on Childhood
In an interview with ET in 2023, Hemsworth explained that while he was excited about his daughter’s role in his movie, he was also keen for her to focus on her childhood rather than rush into a showbiz career. “I want her to have a childhood and I think so does she,” he said. “I said, ‘There’s plenty of time, sweetie. Go to school, horse ride, have fun, be a kid.’ Because once the train moves, it’s pretty hard to get off, and you miss a lot of things.”
