Jack Knowles won for Death of a Salesman, beating out Isabella Byrd (Dog Day Afternoon), Natasha Chivers (Oedipus), Stacey Derosier (Joe Turner's Come and Gone), and Heather Gilbert (Bug and The Fear of 13).
Best Sound Design of a Musical
Kai Harada won for Ragtime, with other nominees including Harada for Cats: The Jellicle Ball, Adam Fisher for The Lost Boys, Brian Ronan for The Rocky Horror Show, and Walter Trarbach for Schmigadoon!.
Best Sound Design of a Play
Mikaal Sulaiman took the prize for Death of a Salesman, nominated alongside Justin Ellington (Joe Turner's Come and Gone), Tom Gibbons (Oedipus), Lee Kinney (The Fear of 13), and Josh Schmidt (Bug).
Best Book of a Musical
Cinco Paul won for Schmigadoon!, competing against David Hornsby and Chris Hoch (The Lost Boys), Marla Mindelle, Constantine Rousouli, and Tye Blue (Titaníque), and Jim Barne and Kit Buchan (Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York)).
Best Orchestrations
Doug Besterman and Mike Morris won for Schmigadoon!, with other nominees including Ethan Popp et al. for The Lost Boys, Lux Pyramid for Two Strangers, Brian Usifer for Chess, and Andrew Lloyd Webber et al. for Cats: The Jellicle Ball.
Best Costume Design of a Musical
Qween Jean won for Cats: The Jellicle Ball, nominated alongside Linda Cho (Ragtime and Schmigadoon!), Ryan Park (The Lost Boys), and David I Reynoso (The Rocky Horror Show).
Best Costume Design of a Play
Jeff Mahshie won for Fallen Angels, beating Brenda Abbandandolo (Dog Day Afternoon), Qween Jean (Liberation), Emilio Sosa (The Balusters), and Paul Tazewell (Joe Turner's Come and Gone).
