Olympic legend Simone Biles revealed she nearly died after being rushed to hospital in a terrifying ordeal this week. The 11-time Olympic medallist shared the update on Instagram, opening up about what she described as one of the scariest experiences of her life.
Biles Shares Health Scare on Instagram
In her post, Biles wrote: "I'm not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today's age. But almost dying wasn't on my bingo card earlier this week. This was one of, if not the scariest experience of my life, especially since Jonathan was in Indy for practices."
She added: "I've been in bed resting this week, I'll explain sooner or later but s/o to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited & or sent flowers."
Follow-Up Post Shows Recovery
In a follow-up post, Biles shared a photo of herself lying in bed with her dogs, along with a screenshot of her elevated resting heart rate. The caption simply read: "I'll be here."
Biles has not provided further details on what caused the hospital visit, but she is believed to be recovering at home in Texas. Her husband, NFL safety Jonathan Owens, was away at the time due to training commitments in Indianapolis. Owens recently signed a one-year deal with the Colts after spending the past two seasons with the Chicago Bears.
Biles' Future in Gymnastics
Biles has not competed since the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, where she claimed three gold medals. She has recently spoken about her future in the sport, admitting she is "50-50" on whether she will compete at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. With 11 Olympic medals and 30 World Championship medals, she is the most decorated gymnast in history.
