Farmer Alex Leaves Farmer Wants A Wife Early with Eddy
Farmer Alex Leaves Show Early with Eddy

From the moment Eddy arrived on Farmer Wants A Wife, it was clear she had caught farmer Alex’s attention. On Sunday night, the mushroom and cattle farmer made the surprise decision to leave the show early with 30-year-old Eddy, ending his search for love before the finale.

Alex’s Decision and Reflections

Speaking to 7NEWS.com.au about his decision, Alex admitted he is someone who falls hard and he has no regrets. While his connection with Eddy was growing stronger, Alex said he remained committed to the experiment and genuinely wanted to continue getting to know the other women.

But everything changed after Rachel discovered Eddy’s letter — a moment Alex believes became the turning point that made it difficult to continue as planned.

The Turning Point

Although Eddy, from Queensland, had stood out from early in the experience, Alex said he still hadn’t made a decision before their final date together at the bath house.

“Going into that date, I hadn’t really made my mind up,” Alex told 7NEWS.com.au. “But I would say after that night, and the events that transpired after the date, I got clearer on where my head was at, which was sort of unfortunate. But that was just the nature of the experience.”

The cattle and mushroom farmer said being confronted by Rachel, 25, about his feelings for Eddy and the discovery of her letter was “tricky”. Alex said he had returned from the date expecting to spend more time getting to know the other women, making the confrontation all the more unexpected.

Reaction to Rachel’s Discovery

“We didn’t know that things had tipped so far off the edge for them that day,” Alex said. “So because of that and then gradually piecing together that Rachel had found Eddy’s diary, I wasn’t really able to process things. I don’t think I was probably being as empathetic as I could have been. It was the one time that I’m not super happy with how I reacted to someone on the show. I wasn’t as balanced as I could have been.”

Looking back, Alex believes Rachel’s reaction was understandable given the circumstances. “She was of course seeing our connection and that would trigger a response in her,” Alex said. “I don’t know if reading Eddy’s diary was something that I would have done personally. If I’d stumbled across someone’s journal, I just put it down. But she made the choice and that was what unfolded. She made the calls she made and then the things happened the way they did. At that particular moment, when I’m trying to get to know Rachel as well as Eddy, and then Rachel and I have a fight, it makes it difficult to get back to some kind of balance romance.”

Final Decision and Family Support

The letter discovery and the fallout played a role in his decision to leave the show with Eddy. But Alex said the turning point came when he realised the experience was ending, prompting what he described as a “hard and fast decision”.

Before making the final call, Alex turned to the people he trusts most — his parents. “They’ve both been through their own fair share of difficult relationships, so I definitely take what they say seriously,” Alex said. “My mum has an excellent perception of people, so I take her advice especially pretty seriously. And she liked Eddy from the moment she met her.”

Although Alex knew he had fallen faster than Eddy, he never doubted where their relationship was headed. “I was confident we were going to leave together,” Alex said. “I was fully aware that I’d moved faster than her but I’m not really the kind of person that paces myself in that regard and feels shame if I’ve moved faster than the person I’m with. Like, I fall hard and fast and that’s what it is.”

Farmer Wants A Wife continues 7.30pm Monday on Seven and 7plus.
