A lucky ticket holder from Western Australia's Mid West region has claimed a $1 million prize from a Lotto ticket purchased at Northampton Newsagency. The winning slip matched the numbers for Monday night's Millionaire Medley division one draw, delivering a pre-Christmas windfall.
The newsagency owner, Amanda Fraser, expressed excitement over the win, noting it is the third division one prize sold at the kiosk in five years. 'We're such a small town and it's so exciting for us to have so many wins,' she said. 'We have no idea who it could be, but it's always extra special when it's a local.'
A Lotterywest spokesperson confirmed the winner, described as a 'WA player,' claimed her prize earlier this week. The winner reportedly said she was looking forward to sharing her winnings with her family, who will be together for Christmas for the first time in years.
The farming town of Northampton is known for producing AFL talent such as Josh Kennedy and Patrick Cripps, and now counts a millionaire among its residents. Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said the win marks the 76th division one prize in WA this year, adding excitement after last week's $50 million Powerball win.
The winning numbers for draw #4626 were 37, 11, 4, 2, 5 and 7, with supplementary numbers 30 and 22. Wender also reminded players of the upcoming Black Friday Special Event, offering Millionaire Medley players a chance to double their prize across all divisions for three draws.
