Snackbrands Australia has issued a recall for its Chickadees snack products after rubber was found in the food, prompting a nationwide alert from Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ). The recall affects multiple pack sizes and best-before dates, with products sold at major retailers including Woolworths, Coles, IGA, convenience stores, and online.
Affected Products and Best-Before Dates
The recall covers Chickadees Multipack 6x19g (114g) with best-before dates of August 1, 8, and 12, 2026. Also included are 190g packets with a best-before date of August 15, 2026, and smaller 45g and 90g packets with a best-before date of December 12, 2026. Consumers are urged to check their pantry for these specific products.
Reason for Recall: Rubber Contamination
According to FSANZ, the recall was triggered by the presence of rubber in the snack, which can cause illness or injury if consumed. The agency stated: “Consumers should not eat this product. Consumers should return the product(s) to the place of purchase for a full refund.” Anyone concerned about their health should seek medical advice.
Where the Products Were Sold
The Chickadees snacks were distributed across Australia through Woolworths, Coles, IGA, convenience stores, and online platforms. The recall applies to all states and territories where these products were available.
Consumer Action
Customers who have purchased the affected items are advised to stop consumption immediately and return them to the point of sale for a full refund. No other Chickadees products or best-before dates are affected by this recall. For further information, consumers can contact Snackbrands Australia or visit the FSANZ website.
