A 16-year-old boy has died following a single-vehicle crash in Port Stephens overnight. Police report that the car he was traveling in struck a tree.
The vehicle contained five teenagers, with the deceased being the oldest occupant. The other four passengers, aged between 14 and 17, were also in the car at the time of the collision.
Two of the surviving teenagers were taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries. Their conditions have not been disclosed.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. No further details have been released at this stage.
