Tip Top's $130M Bakery Upgrade Doubles WA Bread Production

Tip Top Bakeries has opened a new $130 million state-of-the-art bakery line in Canning Vale, doubling production capacity at the site. The expansion aims to ensure a consistent, local supply of high-quality fresh bread in Western Australia.

The new facility includes modern amenities such as change rooms, a lunch room, a dedicated health hub, and a prayer room. It also features improved traffic management, a new layout, reduced manual handling, and new cleaning systems to enhance worker safety. Solar panels have been installed to increase renewable energy use.

This is Tip Top's largest bakery upgrade in more than 20 years. Some of the first products from the new line are already available on WA shelves.

Tip Top Bakeries managing director Andrew Cummings said the expansion was critical after a fire at the Canning Vale bakery last year disrupted bread supplies. “It highlighted just how critical local food manufacturing is in WA,” he said. “In a State as geographically vast as WA, local capability matters.”

Premier Roger Cook, who opened the new bread line on Friday, said the facility would bring significant benefits. “Projects such as Tip Top Bakeries’ new bread line ensure Western Australians can have confidence during supply chain issues,” he said.
